Sefydlu Cylch Cadwgan, grwp o lenorion blaengar yn cynnwys Rhydwen Williams, Pennar Davies, D.R.Griffiths (ei frawd), Gareth Alban Davies a JGG a'i wraig.

Established the Cadwgan literary circle, a group of avant-garde Welsh writers including Rhydwen Williams, Pennar Davies, his brother D.R.Griffiths, Gareth Alban Davies as well as himself and his wife.

The birth of Gwilym Heinin, his second son; appointed assistant lecturer in Classics in the University of Swansea, and lecturer in 1947. Elected President of UCAC, the Welsh teachers' union.

He was Lady Wallis Budge Research Lecturer in the University of Oxford; in 1959 was promoted to senior lecturer in Swansea.

Was given a personal chair in Classics at Swansea. He then spent periods as Visiting Professor in Bonn and Tübingen University, and was also Visiting Fellow in All Souls College, Oxford. Later won additional degrees for studies on the ancient world, including D.Litt. (Oxford) and D.D. (Wales).

Bu farw yn 92 oed. Cyhoeddwyd casgliad cyflawn o'i gerddi, Hog Dy Fwyell, yn 2007, sy'n cynnwys y chwe chyfrol o gerddi a sgrifennodd yn ystod ei fywyd.

Died 92 years of age. A complete collection of his poems, Hog Dy Fywell (Sharpen Your Axe), was published in 2007 and included the six volumes of poetry he wrote during his life.

Gestorben im Alter von 92 Jahren. Eine Gesamtwerk seiner Gedichte, Hog Dy Fywell (Schleife deine Axt), wurde im Jahr 2007 veröffentlicht und darin enthalten, die sechs Bände der Gedichte seiner Lebenszeit.

Promoted to reader; in 1965-66 he was Visiting Professor in Classics and Egyptology in Cairo University. Elected Corresponding Member of the German Archaeological Institute; won Leverhulme research prizes for work on Apuleius, Metamophorses XI, that was published in 1975 under the title The Isis-book.
